What is the full form of PNR?

PNR: Passenger Name Record

The full form of PNR is “Passenger Name Record“. It is a record in the database of a computer reservation system (CRS) in the railway, airline and travel sectors that consists of a passenger’s personal information and also contains the planned route for the passenger or a group of passengers traveling together. Airlines use PNR for security, data management and customer evaluation in situations such as overbooked flights. The Passenger Name Record (PNR) is also useful for train travel, as it provides consultation services, train status, seat location on the train, etc.

You will find PNR on train tickets or plane tickets. It is basically a 10-digit number (in the case of a train), which is a combination of 3 and 7 digits. A typical PNR number looks like 736-7462531. The PNR includes passenger details, such as: name, age, train number, sex, telephone number, seat number, Coach Number, address, etc. Most airlines and travel agencies store PNR databases with a computer reservation system (CRS) or Global distribution system (GDS). These companies are Galileo, Saber, Worldspan, Amadeus, etc. There is no general industry standard for the design and content of a PNR. In practice, each CRS or hosting system has its own proprietary standards.
