CCE: Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation
The full form of CCE is “Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation“. CCE refers to a student evaluation system that covers all facets of education. The Continuous and Complete Evaluation (CCE) system was introduced by the state governments of India, as well as by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to evaluate all aspects of a student’s development on an ongoing basis throughout the year. This assessment approach was introduced for sixth to tenth class students and twelfth class students in some schools. Thereafter, the smaller class student would have the practice of facing the board exam at an earlier age.
The Continuous and Complete Evaluation (CCE) was an assessment process, determined by the Right to Education (RTE) Act, of India in 2009. As part of this system, student marks were replaced by grades assessed by a series of curricular and extracurricular assessments along with academics. The objective was to reduce the student’s workload through continuous evaluation, taking a series of small tests throughout the year, instead of a single test at the end of the academic program. Students were only awarded grades based on their work experience skills, innovation, firmness, teamwork, public speaking, behavior, etc. This helps students who are not good at academics to show their talent in other fields, such as arts, humanities, sports, music, athletics.
